2nd floor at Tootsies on a quiet weekday afternoon

This kid was waiting on his friend whom was off on an audition. She was the musician and he accompanied her to Nashville for her to audition and follow her dream, as so many do that head to the Music City. He told me that to kill some time he set himself up on the second floor at Tootsies with a guitar he brought and whittled away some time while he waited for her to return. After hearing him sing, maybe he should have been auditioning instead.

Homeless in Denver.

I asked this woman for her picture. The fact that she had a stuffed animal near her face caught my attention in addition to the obvious fact that she was homeless and living in an alcove within a side alley off of 16th Street in Denver. I spent a good amount of time sitting there talking with her and hearing her story. It made me upset as much as seeing this picture does today. I asked her permission to take her photo and she obliged. I helped her financially as much as a truck driver could help at the time. Empathy is always about a financial gesture but it also goes a long way to acknowledge someone's existence when they feel like life has forgotten about them.
